Unknown Christmas Facts about
Ol' Saint Nick and the Christmas Tree
By Curtis B. Miller

Every year in the United States, and throughout the world, families celebrate the holiday known as Christmas. To Christians, this holiday is to celebrate the birth of the Saviour of the world. To everyone else, it is known as a time for family gatherings and the giving and receiving of gifts.

When the Pilgrims arrived in the America's, they left such "holidays" as Christmas and Halloween in Europe. But, as the Catholic Irish and Germans migrated here they brought their traditions along with them.

But I'm not even concerned with the origin of this holiday or why men celebrate it; for Paul said, "One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind" (Romans 14:5). Paul also said, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days" (Colossians 2:16). I'm not worried about your holy day. And I'm not going to lecture on whether or not one should celebrate "Christmas." That's not my job. My job is to present the facts and let the Holy Spirit do the work.

Christmas ("Christ's Mass") began with the Catholic Church combining paganism with "Christianity:" Combining the celebration of the Roman's "natalis solis invicti" (Roman's "birth of the unconquered sun") and "Solstice" (December 21st) which is another celebration of the sun, with the birth of Jesus Christ ("The Sun of Righteousness" Mal 4:2), which didn't take place anywhere close to December.

At a glance, Christmas looks like a decent holiday filled with good cheer and charity. But when one does a study on Santa Claus, his little elves, and don't forget his favorite tree, the view of Christmas may change.

Old Saint Nick

The Unholy Trinity

1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (The Word is Jesus Christ: John 1:1,14; Rev 19:13), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Just as God is a trinity and the devil is a trinity, Christmas holds its own Trinity. Santa Claus (Santa = Satan) has three main names; Santa Claus, Chris Cringle, and Father Christmas. The Father is obviously typified by "Father Christmas." The Son is slightly harder to figure out, unless you speak German. The Son is typified by Chris Cringle, or Kriss Kringle. 'Kriss' meaning "Christ" and 'Kringle,' which comes from 'Kindl,' meaning 'child.' Thus "Kriss Kringle" means "Christ Child." As for the third person of this unholy trinity, the Spirit, this one is also a little mysterious. However, everyone in the month of December speaks up about the "Spirit of Christmas" or the "Christmas Spirit." According to "The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000." Santa Claus is "The personification of the spirit of Christmas." That's your Christmas Trinity.

The Unholy Christ

When studied it is amazing the number of similarities between Jesus Christ and Santa Claus. The following is a list of similarities between the two.

1. Santa Claus has a Kingdom located on the North Pole. Christ has a Kingdom; even though it is not YET on this world, it will be at the 2nd Coming (John 18:36; Rev 11:15; Luke 1:32). Christ also has a city on the "Sides of the North" (Is 14:13; Ps 48:2).

2. Santa Claus is said to have white hair just as the Glorified Jesus Christ (Rev 1:14).

3. Santa Claus wears a red coat. Jesus Christ wore a scarlet robe before his crucifixion (Mat 27:28) and will have a "vesture dipped in blood" at his second coming (Rev 19:13).

4. Santa Claus gives gifts from the sky (Eph 4:7-8).

5. Santa is omnipresent (Mat 18:20).

6. Santa suffers the little children to come to him (Mark 10:14).

7. Santa judges little kids to be good or evil based off a list (Rev. 20:12; Mat 9:4; Pro 15:3).

8. There are songs of Santa's coming.

9. Santa sits on a throne (in malls) (Matt 5:34; Matt 19:28; Mat 25:31).

10. He rides on horseback (Rev. 19:11).

11. Santa enters into homes wearing a bishop's robe (As a thief? 1 Thess 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10).

12. HO HO HO (Trinity. H and O are 6 letters apart 666).

13. Elf (gnome, goblin).

Christmas Tree (Evergreen).

1. The Christmas Tree is an aid in pagan worship:

Jeremiah 10:2-5: 2. Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

2. The Christmas tree has either Santa Claus, a female angel with wings (Zech 5:9), a cherub (Ezek 28:14), or a star (Angels: Revelation 1:20) in place of Jesus Christ at the TOP of the tree ("Sides of the North").

3. People cast presents under the tree (Like Jesus Christ Rev 4:10)

4. To get gifts from it a man must bow down on his knees to get them.

5. There are songs about the Christmas Tree.
